Visiting/Finding Us
Archives and Special Collections are located in the lower (collections) level of the Donnelley and Lee Library, at the east end of the Middle Campus loop drive, with two entrances off of Sheridan Road, south of Deerpath in east Lake Forest. For arrival by car on weekdays, please leave a note under your windshield or visible on your dashboard saying that you are visiting the Library's Archives and Special Collections.
Access by public transportation is easy, a short (ten minute) walk east from the Lake Forest stop on the Metra North Line (Kenosha and Waukegan), departing from Ogilvie Transportation Center, Chicago. (It is not possible to walk from the Lake Forest station in west Lake Forest, departing from Union Station, Chicago.) Trains are hourly weekdays, with more frequency in rush hours.
To reach the lower level once you have arrived in the library, please use the main stairs behind the red wall at the north end of the main floor (away from the coffee bar). The Archives and Special Collections Reading Room, number 004, is then to the left, across the lobby and behind the two exhibit cases and the large plate glass windows (a bit behind the pillar from the foot of the stairs).
