Cathy Benton teaches classes in Asian Religions
and Literatures at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. She also
conducts workshops in intercultural communication, preparing people for work
and study in new cultures. An active member of ASIANetwork, a consortium of
liberal arts colleges committed to teaching about Asia, Cathy has served on
the Board of Directors and Development Team since 1997.
With most of her professional interests focused around Indian culture and
traditions, Cathy has lived in India for varying lengths of time since 1976.
She has also traveled and worked in other areas of Asia including China and
Bangladesh, as well as in Turkey, Israel, and Tanzania.
Fascinated with all forms of dance and stories, Cathy has participated in
the Chicago barn dancing community for many years and dances with groups in
other parts of the country whenever possible.
