Finding books

Search for books in ILLINET Online, the library's catalog.
For speeches, search using the subject heading "Speeches, addresses, etc." or use a speaker's name.
Search for your policy issue as a subject. Example: "violence on television."
You may request books from other libraries by going to "ILCSO Libaries."


Searching for Articles in Indexes and Databases

Search in these databases for articles on your topic:

Lexis-Nexis - newspaper articles, off-campus access
EbscoHost - magazine articles
Social Sciences Abstracts - scholarly journal articles
PAIS International - international politics
Alternative Press Index - alternative views on issues, call x5074 for password
Ethnic Newswatch - ethnic & minority presses
Congressional Universe - bills, laws & testimony
Vital Statistics on American Politics - free registration required

Once you have a citation to an article, check the journal list to see if the College owns the journal the article appeared in. If not, fill out an Interlibrary Loan Form to request the article. Please allow 14 days to receive an article.
